Opening internship and career opportunities at hotels under Marriott International

Aiming for sustainable development cooperation, in order to create a professional environment for students to exchange experiences, visit, and explore the corporate environment. Thereby enhancing specialized knowledge and practical skills suitable for job requirements in the tourism industry with 5-star standards. This morning on April 5, 2022, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology held the Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony with the Vietnam – Cambodia Business Council, Marriott International Group (MBCVC) (*).

The event was attended by Mr. Julian Wong – General Manager of Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers – Representative of MBCVC; Mr. Murali Viswanathan – General Manager of Renaissance Riverside Saigon Hotel; Mr. Justin Malcolm – General Manager of Le Meridien Saigon; along with the presence of Human Resources Directors of hotels under the MBCVC system.

According to the memorandum of understanding on cooperation, HUFLIT and (MBCVC) agreed to cooperate in creating conditions for students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality with opportunities or related events for HUFLIT students to participate, visit, study practically, and intern at hotels, based on the process requirements and standards of each hotel under the system of Marriott International (Vietnam – Cambodia region).

In addition, MBCVC will collaborate with HUFLIT in training cohorts of tourism and hotel management students and participate in activities such as: consulting on curriculum development, career guidance, career orientation for students, employment consulting, sharing experiences when participating in interviews, recruitment, completing job application documents… with the most recent activity being HUFLIT Job Fair 2022.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – President of HUFLIT was impressed by the position and development of Marriott International Group in recent times, especially during the 2 difficult years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, he affirmed that signing with the Vietnam – Cambodia Business Council, Marriott International Group, aims to fulfill the goal of improving the training quality of the university, contributing to creating internship resources for students, while providing high-quality human resources for hotels belonging to the MBCVC system.

Representing the Vietnam – Cambodia Business Council, Marriott International, Mr. Julian Wong – General Manager of Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers highly appreciated the practical activities and professional skills that HUFLIT and the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality have equipped their students with. Hotels within the MBCVC system are ready to welcome HUFLIT students for internships and employment right away.

Also during the program, representatives from Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers, Renaissance Riverside Saigon Hotel, and Le Meridien Saigon answered questions from students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality regarding essential skills as well as development opportunities when working at these hotels. This helped students update important knowledge to prepare for their career journey in the service industry.
