To help students prepare well for entering the current labor market, HUFLIT CAREER FAIR 2023 brings the ’24-hour CV Camps’ event series for students. This event series helps students #Understand_CV, as well as how to build a LinkedIn profile to make an impression and increase the rate of ‘securing the deal’ with Employers.
The ’24-hour CV Camps’ activities took place from April 19, 2023, to April 2, 2023, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology with 3 main activities:
In recent years, the labor market has shifted towards applying digital technologies to work to optimize efficiency and save time,… Among these, the recruitment stage often adopts these forms to make the process of filtering potential candidates more convenient and easier. Applicant Tracking System (ATS), or Applicant Tracking System, is one of the most widely applied recruitment technology solutions today. ATS helps companies narrow down candidate pools, save time and resources in managing information, thereby improving recruitment performance. ATS is impartial when reviewing applications and focuses on keyword analysis to ensure the CV meets recruitment needs. Not all candidates are aware of this technology, which has become a major barrier causing applicants to lose the opportunity to advance to the next round.
Understanding the difficulties students are facing, the Workshop “Writing a CV that Impresses Employers” took place at 8:30 AM on April 19 with the participation of more than 400 students aimed at resolving the issues they encounter when writing a CV. Additionally, at the workshop, Mr. Tran Thai Bao – Former CEO of UKA Bilingual School shared common mistakes students make when writing CVs, and helped them grasp important rules when searching for recruitment information. In particular, students also practiced writing CVs, received guidance on how to write them, and got feedback from Mr. Thai Bao to help them have a completed CV right at the workshop.
In the same afternoon, the Workshop “Optimizing Your LinkedIn Profile” took place featuring Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hau – Talent Acquisition Manager at Vieclam24h (SieuViet Group). The workshop featured her sharing insights revolving around the LinkedIn platform.
LinkedIn is a familiar platform for businesses in general and candidates in particular today. As a platform that helps users connect with businesses, many employers today allow online applications directly through LinkedIn. This shows that LinkedIn not only makes connecting easy but also helps candidates easily find suitable jobs for themselves. Building a good online resume (profile) helps employers understand a person’s capabilities and determine whether the job opening is suitable for the candidate. Understanding the benefits of building a profile, during the workshop, students were guided and instructed by Ms. Hau on how to create an account, build, and optimize basic information on the LinkedIn platform to attract employers.
After equipping themselves with knowledge about CVs as well as how to build a personal brand on LinkedIn, students had the opportunity to apply the knowledge from the workshop into practice through the “24-hour CV Writing Competition” activity. This was a practical experience aimed at helping students challenge themselves, seek recruitment opportunities, and experience interviews with recruitment department heads. After announcing the prompt with 5 different fields including: F&B, Business Administration, Information Technology, and HR. The submitted CVs were graded via AST software. Among them, only 25 submissions were selected out of 200 sent to the organizing committee. The top 25 students participated in direct interviews with recruiters corresponding to the 5 fields of the prompt to select 15 awards. Awarded to the three contestants who won first, second, and third prizes in all fields.
Awards by field include: F&B Field: First prize: Cao Pham Huynh Chau; Second prize: Nguyen Thi Thien Nga; Third prize: Tran Ngoc Bao. Information Technology Field: First prize: Ho Tan Hung; Third prize: Tran Pham Ha Phuong. Foreign Languages Field: First prize: Luong Ngoc Han; Second prize: Pham Thi Nhu Nguyet. Human Resources Field: First prize: Tran Huynh Bao Ngoc; Second prize: Vo Ngoc Thu Minh; Third prize: Ho Le Phuong Ngan. Business Administration Field: First prize: Ngo Thi Kim Cuc; Second prize: Do Thi Thu Hoai; Third prize: Nguyen Hoai Than.
Through the series of activities, HUFLIT students had the opportunity to better understand the demands of the labor market and recruitment, and were equipped with necessary skills such as writing a standard ATS resume or building a profile on the LinkedIn platform to adapt and compete in the “harsh” labor market. Hopefully, following the 24-Hour CV Camps activities of the HUFLIT Career Fair 2023, students will feel more confident when applying for their desired positions at an enterprise.
