10 Interview Questions: Do you have any questions for us?

Ending the interview with smart questions will help you make a great impression and show your interest in the job. This article will provide you with useful tips on how to ask the employer questions.

Near the end of the interview, the employer will usually ask you “Do you have any questions for me?”. This is an opportunity for you to show initiative, learn more about the company and the open position, and score points with the employer. However, many candidates, especially fresh graduates and interns, often miss this opportunity because they don’t know what to ask.

According to BigInterview, to give a persuasive answer, you should keep the following points in mind

1. Prepare some questions in advance:

Prepare at least 3 questions for each person interviewing you. This shows that you have taken the time to research the company and are serious about this opportunity.

2. Focus on the job and the company:

In the later stages of the interview process, the goal of asking questions is to:

  • Show your interest in the applied position and your desire to do the job well.
  • Learn more about the employer’s needs so you can tailor your answers accordingly.

3. Avoid asking about personal matters:

This stage is not the time to ask about benefits, vacation time, promotion opportunities, etc. You will have plenty of time to find out about these details after receiving a job offer.

4. Sample answers

  • Regarding the job:
    • “In your opinion, what are the most important qualities to succeed in this position?”
    • “Could you tell me more about a typical workday in this position?”
    • “Does the company have any training and development programs for new employees?”
    • “What can I contribute to the team/department from the very first days?”
  • Regarding the company:
    • “What do you like most about working at this company?”
    • “What are the top priorities of the company/department right now?”
    • “How would you describe the company’s work culture?”
    • “What activities does the company have to promote employee engagement?”

5. Listen and interact

Listen carefully to the employer’s answers and ask relevant follow-up questions to show interest and dive deeper.

By asking smart questions and showing your interest, you will make a positive impression on the employer and increase your chances of success in the interview.
