Following the initial challenges, three girls Pham Thi My Linh, Le Thi Thanh Thao, and Pham Thi Ngoc Thuong (Class of 2020, Faculty of Oriental Languages and Cultures) will reveal valuable experiences that helped them successfully conquer their internship journey in Japan.
1. HUFLIT - A Solid Launchpad for the Internship Journey
My Linh, Thanh Thao, and Ngoc Thuong all affirm that the training program at HUFLIT has equipped them with valuable preparation to confidently step into the working environment in Japan. From professional knowledge of language and culture to soft skills such as communication and teamwork, everything has contributed to helping them quickly adapt and integrate. This proves that HUFLIT is not only a cradle of knowledge but also a solid launchpad for dreams of studying and working abroad.
2. Overcoming the Language Barrier - The Key to Effective Communication
Fluent Japanese communication skills are a crucial factor for a successful internship in Japan. My Linh shared that she constantly improved her vocabulary and proactively communicated to enhance her language skills. Thanh Thao took advantage of every opportunity to converse and share with colleagues, both improving her Japanese proficiency and building good relationships. Ngoc Thuong always maintained a receptive attitude, not hesitating to ask questions or have colleagues speak more slowly when she did not fully understand. These sharing show that perseverance, proactivity, and a willingness to learn are the best ways to overcome the language barrier and integrate into the new working environment.
3. Building Relationships - Bonding and Mutual Support
My Linh shared that building good relationships with colleagues not only makes work smoother but also brings many interesting life experiences. Linh always tries to show respect, care, and readiness to help colleagues. Thanh Thao revealed that she regularly chats and shares with colleagues about both work and daily life. This helps her not only improve communication skills but also build trust and connection with everyone. Ngoc Thuong believes that openness and sincerity are the keys to building good relationships. Thuong always shows friendliness and is ready to listen to sharing from colleagues, thereby creating a comfortable and mutually supportive working environment.
4. Strong Mentality - Facing Challenges
Interning in a foreign country inevitably brings unexpected situations and challenges. All three girls experienced anxiety when facing an earthquake for the first time, but thanks to prior mental preparation and thorough research on response measures, they quickly regained their composure and ensured their own safety. This demonstrates the importance of preparing a strong mentality and thoroughly understanding the culture and lifestyle of the host country before beginning the internship journey. “Because it was an area on the outskirts of the epicenter, there were no issues, just a slight shaking, and the area where I live is quite safe being near the mountains, even in the event of a tsunami following the earthquake, safety is guaranteed,” Ngoc Thuong shared.
It can be seen that the internship journey in Japan not only brings HUFLITers challenges to train themselves, but also an opportunity for them to explore and experience a unique culture. Initial difficulties such as language barriers or cultural differences have helped students become stronger, more confident, and more flexible in work and life.
