OVERVIEW INTRODUCTION<\/h3>\n\n

Scholarship fund co-founded by Deloitte Vietnam<\/strong> and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in Vietnam (ACCA Vietnam)<\/strong>, LUYF <\/strong>(Lighting Up Your Future) has carried the mission of bestowing trust and inspiring the generation of young, resilient talents striving for success since 2012.<\/p>\n\n

Since those very first flickering candles were lit, over the span of 10 years, belief has continued to be ignited, and love spread by the Fund’s team\u2014those who have accompanied this steadfast 10-year journey. Only by witnessing with our own eyes and listening with our own ears to the stories of each student could we truly understand and harbor the desire to give wings to even more dreams, expanding the Fund’s reach to more students, young people facing difficult circumstances yet harboring the aspiration to rise in life, including many students with disabilities. From there, small candles are forged into a larger, blazing torch.<\/p>\n

MIGHT NOT KNOW: ALREADY 2 HUFLIT-ers<\/mark> WON THE LUYF SCHOLARSHIP IN 2021<\/h3>\n\n

Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology (HUFLIT) is proud to have 2 representatives from the University achieve the Lighting Up Your Future (LUYF) scholarship. They are Tran Ngoc Phap<\/mark><\/strong> (Student of the Faculty of Information Technology – 18DH110740) and Le Truc Quynh<\/mark><\/strong> (Student of the Faculty of Economics and Finance – 19DH200616). They are 2 out of a total of 160 candidates<\/strong> who successfully won the nationwide LUYF scholarship.<\/p>\n\n

What is the motivation?<\/h3>\n\n

Coming to Ngoc Phap\u2014a young man with physical disadvantages yet possessing an admirable aspiration to rise above. The motivation compelling this young student to apply for the Lighting Up Your Future 2021 scholarship arose right during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, a time seemingly of persistent hardship for Ngoc Phap, which turned out to be the fire igniting within him. Wishing to ease his family’s financial burden during the pandemic, Phap boldly applied for the scholarship. Alongside this, Truc Quynh’s story also carries a color of resilience despite countless difficulties during the past Covid-19 pandemic. Quynh humbly shared as follows:<\/p>\n\n

“Speaking of my own motivation, it is perhaps like any other student, seeking financial assistance during the social distancing period caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. That time was truly extremely difficult for me, as the tuition deadline was approaching while my financial resources were insufficient to cover it. I myself was also infected with COVID and lost an additional sum of money to pay for medical services. Before receiving the notification email that I made it to LUYF’s scholarship list, I didn’t hold high expectations because out there, thousands of people were far more talented and facing much greater hardships than me. But luckily, I made the list, and this means immensely to me.”<\/p>\n\n

How to prepare?<\/h3>\n\n

Both LUYF scholarship champions approached the scholarship application very carefully, thereby creating efficiency as they fully met the documents and criteria set by the scholarship. Thoroughly researching scholarship requirements is an indispensable part of the application process, helping candidates’ profiles become complete and professional. Besides meeting the basic scholarship criteria along with fairly good academic achievements or higher, candidates must also demonstrate resilience in life despite hardships and show a spirit of contributing to the community after receiving the scholarship – Tran Ngoc Phap shared.<\/p>\n\n

When filling out the application, Truc Quynh spent time researching some scholarship information to see if she met the scholarship criteria. At the same time, she carefully checked the information and questions from the sponsoring fund to avoid filling in incorrect information, causing difficulties for the scholarship approval process. The most important thing is the essay presenting one’s personal hardships in the application; she had to spend a lot of time presenting her personal circumstances as sincerely as possible. Because Quynh thought the essay was where a candidate’s necessity for the scholarship and the value the candidate brings to spread the Fund’s spirit could be best revealed. After submitting her application, Truc Quynh was fortunately one of the few students called for an interview. The interview lasted 20 minutes in the form of an online meeting due to the period of social distancing. The interview round did not require much preparation; most of the Scholarship Fund’s questions were about the candidate’s personal life and family, so you just needed to answer as honestly as possible, matching the answers you filled in the initial application.<\/p>\n\n

The 2022 scholarship criteria include:<\/strong>- 1st, 2nd, 3rd year students belonging to Economics, Finance, Law, IT, Medicine and Pharmacy, Education fields - Priority given to students in difficult circumstances and ethnic minorities with the will to rise in life (demonstrated through academic achievements, community activities, etc.)- Priority given to students with ideas for startup\/non-profit projects benefiting the community- Students with disabilities nationwide belonging to the DRD network<\/pre>\n\n
Required application documents <\/strong>(via the registration form in 2022<\/mark><\/a>)\n- General information: Full name, ID Card\/Citizen ID, Date of birth, Email, Facebook,...\n- Academic process: School name, Faculty, Year of study, Student ID,....\n- Achievements: Scholarships, contest awards, research works,... and social activity achievements\n- Family background: Information on family members\n- Information of the verifier of the candidate's background: Teachers, Village Head\/Residential Group Leader, Ward\/Commune Chairman,....\n- Essay questions: Questions about personal circumstances and questions about your plans after receiving the scholarship (No more than 1000 characters, including spaces)<\/pre>\n\n
What has the scholarship supported?<\/h3>\n\n
“The scholarship has helped me cover my tuition fees at the university. This not only ignited the fire of hope for me to continue going to school but also gave me the opportunity to experience a professional working environment in my field of study.<\/em><\/p>\n\n
In previous years, everyone would meet each other, receive certificates, and have additional commemorative photos, but my year became very special. LUYF season 9 scholarship recipients received their scholarships online, allowing everyone to participate alongside their parents and teachers. Hearing sharing from leaders and inspirational figures gave not only me but also others additional motivation to strive for future scholarship seasons. Besides, students will participate in skill training classes, join internships with senior professionals in the industry to improve their qualifications and develop personal soft skills.”<\/em> – Shared by Truc Quynh (Student of the Faculty of Economics and Finance, HUFLIT).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n
“The LUYF scholarship has helped my family overcome tuition fee difficulties at the university and also allowed me to improve my soft skills through training sessions provided by the scholarship. <\/em><\/p>\n\n
